The Centre was started in 1976 by local parents and since that time has been transformed from a derelict site into a superb facility for learning watersports and outdoor activities. The seven acres of the Basin and slipway access to the broad, fast moving water of the River Thames present the ideal water conditions to provide both safety and adventure from beginner to expert. The Centre is determined that the community remains actively involved in all decisions which affect the Basin and its surroundings. Shadwell Basin will always be a facility for the whole community.
We are proud of our safety record. All activities are directed by staff with nationally recognised qualifications. The Centre is recognised by the RYA and BCU as an approved centre and by the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority.
